This chapter explores some of the emotional issues likely to emerge for clients living with an individual with a Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD).



Objectives:

  1. Examine emotional consequences for family and loved ones living with an individual who has a substance use disorder.
  2. Examine mental health disorders and other emotional consequences commonly occurring with clients who live with a substance abuser
  3. Explore case examples which illustrate common issues counselors encounter when working with clients living with substance-abusing individuals.
