This session illustrates the findings and implications of a research study on self-awareness development in multicultural counseling classes with an aim to understand the challenges of enhancing multicultural and social justice competency in counselor training. The relational–cultural theory framework was applied to discuss the meaning of self-awareness in relation to building connectedness with others and importance of authenticity and genuineness.
