An Investigation of Student-Athletes’ Mental Health Stigma Using SEM

Mar 30, 2019 11:30am ‐ Mar 30, 2019 12:00pm

Description

Student-athletes are a unique counseling population who need consideration before and when providing clinical services. However, there is a shortage of research on mental health in student-athletes, specifically mental health stigma (MHS) and how it is adverse to sports culture and its mentality. For these reasons, the poster will review findings from an investigation examing student-athletes’ MHS to psychological well-being, help-seeking behaviors, and perceived performance in athletics and academics.
