Polarizing Political Discourse- Inviting Empathy Into Difficult Conversations

Mar 30, 2019 2:00pm ‐ Mar 30, 2019 3:30pm

Description

Sociopolitical discussions can prove challenging for counselors. While we seek to bridge differences, we can be at a loss when faced with difficult interactions or confrontations. This session presents approaches for facilitating dialogues that invite disagreement while promoting cultural understanding, trust, and empathy. By deconstructing political discourses, this session will present conflict reconciliation approaches to guide attendees toward awareness and strategies for hosting conversations.
