Being a Stay-at-Home Dad- Implication for the Mental Health Profession

Mar 31, 2019 7:30am ‐ Mar 31, 2019 8:30am

Description

The shift in the traditional male role of caregiver has resulted in a variety of social and mental health issues for stay-at-home dads (SAHDs). SAHDs experience struggles associated with balancing roles, encountering stereotypes, and lack of social support. Despite the increase in the prevalence of SAHD issues, there is a lack of research and interventions. The presenters will discuss results of a qualitative study with SAHDs including their experiences, interactions, and strategies for working with this population.
