Mar 31, 2019 7:30am ‐ Mar 31, 2019 8:30am

Description

There is a need for counselors to understand the effect of colorism on African American women in the counselor–client relationship. The subject of colorism is often intertwined with the discussion of racism, thus decreasing the awareness of how this phenomenon is also impactful and discriminatory in nature. This session will increase awareness of the effects of colorism by highlighting the relevancy of broaching these topics within the construct of the counselor–client relationship.
