Animal-Assisted Therapy for Treating PTSD in Combat Veterans

Mar 31, 2019 10:00am ‐ Mar 31, 2019 10:30am

Description

For decades, the U.S. military has trained men and women alike on how to be soldiers, but what happens to them when what they’ve trained for suddenly ends? For those with war wounds, transitioning back can be impossible. With the lack of resources available to military personnel, animal-assisted therapy (AAT) helps bridge the resource gap. Research has shown that AAT helps minimize the effects of PTSD. Utilizing AAT to reintegrate veterans with PTSD could be the difference between life and living.
