The Presence of Community Violence Within the African American Population

Mar 31, 2019 12:15pm ‐ Mar 31, 2019 1:15pm

Description

Violence is a traumatic experience that affects many communities of low socioeconomic status. Increasing the recognition of symptoms of violence-related trauma within the African American community by those in the counseling profession is important. Counselors are encouraged by the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics to recognize that culture affects the manner in which clients’ problems are defined and experienced. In addition, attendees will learn how to apply a treatment modality.
