Broaching Body Size and Weight With Clients and Students

Mar 31, 2019 12:15pm ‐ Mar 31, 2019 1:15pm

Description

Research shows that anti-fat bias, fatphobia, has adverse effects on different aspects of obese individuals’ lives, but little is known about the way it affects counseling relationships. This program invites attendees to share their thoughts and experiences with these biases, in conjunction with relevant research findings, to discuss broaching this issue with the next generation of professional counselors. Relevant ethics, case studies, and suggestions for training will be discussed.
