Writing can make a difference in the health and well-being of counselors. This session will focus on how counselors can use writing as a way of staying healthy by engaging in this process beyond transcribing clinical notes. Ways of writing (scriptotherapy) will be examined, and attendees will be given an opportunity to try out various forms of prose and poetry that have proven effective as ways of promoting positive mental health in counselors. Ways of engaging clients in writing to promote their mental health will also be covered.

To review the research on how writing promotes wellness in counselors from various settings and in the general public.
To show attendees ways they can engage in the process of writing even if they do not consider themselves writers, for example, participating in writing sprints, using writing stems, or creating therapeutic fairy tales.
