The integration of neuroscience techniques and principles has garnered a great deal of attention in the practice of mental health counseling. This session will provide an introduction to the use of neurofeedback in clinical practice. Attendees will be guided through a step-by-step process for integrating neurofeedback into their practice and will learn what equipment is needed and how to save costs while adopting this methodology in clinical practice.

  • Discuss current research highlighting the significance in applying neuroscience-based interventions in mental health counseling practice. Introduce neurofeedback therapy, research and clinical practice.
  • Discuss why counselors may want to consider incorporating neurofeedback into their clinical practice or agency setting. Discuss the types of clients and presenting disorders appropriate for neurofeedback therapy treatment.
  • Introduce the different types of neurofeedback devices, costs and marketing strategies for counselors to implement when adopting neurofeedback in their clinical practice or agency.
