Counselors are currently restricted from serving Medicare beneficiaries, leading to many having to turn away or refer clients. Relying on data from over 6,000 ACA members, the presenters will speak on what happens when Medicare beneficiaries seek counseling services, and how ACA members respond through advocacy. In light of recently introduced Medicare legislation, this session will provide participants with the opportunity to think critically about how to advocate for Medicare reimbursement.
Participants will review the results of a national study on counseling professionals' attitudes and behavior as they relate to Medicare reimbursement advocacy.
Participants will synthesize these findings with their own experiences with the Medicare coverage gap, advocacy, and other key issues.
Participants will identify implications for the counseling profession insofar as Medicare reimbursement advocacy is concerned.
