Description

Current research findings show that school-based play therapy may promote children’s social–emotional, behavioral, and academic growth. Counselors have been encouraged to take an active role in developing school and community partnerships. Presenters will discuss unique challenges in partnering with schools to provide school-based play therapy services. Culturally responsive strategies to collaborate with schools and families will be provided.

  • Participants will be able to identify benefits of providing school-based play therapy services.
  • Participants will be able to examine potential challenges in building partnerships with schools.
  • Participants will be able to articulate three strategies to build effective partnerships with schools in a culturally responsive manner.
