This roundtable has been developed for counselor educators, licensed professional counselors who provide supervision, and licensed professional counselor interns who are recipients. This roundtable is designed with the intention of facilitating a discussion surrounding best practices for the clinical supervision process while examining the roles of dual-role supervisors in the workplace, contractual considerations for external supervisors, and the experiences of the supervisees.
Attendees will learn the differences between the roles and responsibilities of a dual role supervisor and external supervisor; from there, attendees will learn and discuss the potential role conflicts that can occur when clinical supervision is offered by the administrative supervisor within the workplace.
Attendees will explore the range of experiences of supervisees with this common model and discuss the potential ethical issues that can arise from dual role supervisors providing clinical supervision.
Attendees will learn and discuss the potential benefits of utilizing an external clinical supervisor to create a clear delineation for the clinical supervision process.
