Incorporating Counselor Ethical Practice Into Online Presence

As counselors become involved in the teaching process and/or the delivery of online professional development workshops and webinars, the consideration of online presence becomes essential in order to connect and interact with the audience. This session will address key factors that promote online presence, along with ways to incorporate ethical practice into the Community of Inquiry (COI) framework, and will share results from a pilot study of counselors’ experiences with online presence.

  • Explain how key components of online presence relate to the Community of Inquiry framework of online presence;
  • Identify  ways to incorporate ethical practice and multiculturalism into the Community of Inquiry model of online presence;
  • Discuss results of a pilot study of counselors’ experiences with incorporating ethical practice and multiculturalism into online presence.
