School Crisis Intervention Planning for Wide-Impact Community Events

Description

This roundtable session will help create school crisis plans for times of wide-impact school traumas and crises through discussing response strategies (training, time-sensitive services, etc.), crisis teams (formation, meetings, policy, drills, etc.), interfacing agencies (integration, roles, etc.), crisis debriefing (agenda, symptoms, etc.), and strategies to help students get back to precrisis functioning (assessment for pretrauma functioning, evidence-based practices, availability of services, and social support).

  • Learn the principles of triage in the school setting.
  • Discuss the strategies for mental health response, mental health teams, interfacing agencies, crisis debriefing, and helping individuals return to a pre-crisis state.
  • Reflect on local, regional, and national forces that could help or hinder the crisis planning and responding. counselors will engage in - engaging with subsystems and systems.
