Description

In this poster, the researcher takes a closer look into the use of reparations to help undermine existing barriers to college access for the African American community by exploring the attitudes of university students toward those reparations. Additionally, this presentation will analyze and compare data collected both before and after the widely publicized violence that took place during the protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017.

  • Attendees will be able to define reparations and multiple forms of reparations proposed on university campuses to promote justice and equity.
  • Attendees will be able to describe the sampled population’s views of reparations.
  • Attendees will be able to articulate potential implications for campus culture, career and college admissions equity, and multicultural counseling on college campuses.
