Description

This poster guides counselors in an advanced exploration of brain development, neurobiology, and psychopharmacology as they interact in adolescents. Counselors will explore their roles as advocates for medicated minors as well as the ethics of their involvement and support for medicated minors.

  • Participants will have an advanced understanding of brain development and functioning as they relate to affect and behavior.
  • Participants will be able to differentiate the complexities of brain functioning in nonmaltreated and maltreated adolescents.
  • Participants will understand the interaction between trauma. medication, and brain development.
