This poster aims to disseminate the results of a program evaluation a Counselor Wellness Series designed to fill the gap of self-care practices that are emphasized in counseling programs. The program teaches effective methods, such as yoga and breath work, in order to promote reduction of compassion fatigue and burnout and improve wellness. Data collected will be used to inform the efficacy of developing similar wellness programs in counseling departments.
Participants will learn ways to promote self-care among counselors-in-training (CITs) through the implementation of mindful yoga practice (Counselor Wellness Series) within the sponsorship with a local chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.
Participants will learn findings from preliminary data examining the effectiveness of Counselor Wellness Series in decreasing compassion fatigue and burnout among CITs.
Participants will learn ways in which wellness-related activities may be implemented within counselor education programs to engage in upholding the mission of CSI through wellness research.
