Description

In this poster we will present the components of a training program to prepare counselors to work with at-risk populations. We will discuss the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the training program, which included a focus on (1) evidence-based practices, (2) interdisciplinary collaboration, (3) primary care integration, and (4) action research. We will discuss implications for counselors, counselor education training programs, and clinical supervisors who work with at-risk populations.

  • After attending this presentation, participants will be aware of the training components involved in preparing counselor trainees to work with at-risk populations.
  • After attending this presentation, participants will understand strategies to overcoming challenges to providing services and collaborating when working with at-risk populations.
