Girls and women are twice as likely as men to experience depression. Laura H. Choate, Ed.D., discusses, gendered factors that place females at greater risk and the most current evidence based treatments including cognitive behavioral and interpersonal therapy. Subtypes of depression specific to women, such as premenstrual, prenatal, and postnatal depression, are also reviewed.
