Description

The presenters will address a range of topic related to the challenges of becoming a professional counselor, such as creating a meaningful professional life, creating and maintaining your own self-care program, being aware of and managing your personal values, common concerns of beginning counselors and managing personal and professional boundaries. There will be opportunities for the attendees to raise questions to the presenters.

Learning Objectives:

  • To offer audience participants an opportunity to raise questions of the presenters on the topic of what is involved in becoming a professional counselor.
  • To discuss the central role of self-care as an ethical mandate.
  • To explore the role of values in the counseling process and to provide guidelines for ethically managing a counselor’s values in his or her professional work.
