Dr. Richard E. Watts PhD

Distinguished Professor of Counseling, Sam Houston State University

Dr. Richard E. Watts is board member of the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC), Chair of the ASERVIC Ethical Values Committee, and a past editor of Counseling & Values, the ASERVIC journal. He served on the Ethics Revision Task Force for the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics and on the committee that developed the ASERVIC Competencies for Addressing Spiritual and Religious Issues in Counseling. An ACA Fellow, Dr. Watts has published and presented extensively on spiritual, ethical, and religious issues in counseling. The rest of the panel consists of members of the ASERVIC Ethical Values Committee, all of whom are experienced in working with ethical issues pertaining to working with clients’ spiritual and religious issues.
