Mickey E. White, MS, LPC-Intern, NCC, is a third-year doctoral student in Counseling at the University of North Texas. His dissertation research is a qualitative study examining how Black transgender men navigate systems of privilege and oppression throughout transitioning. Additionally, he leads two research teams focused on exploring and facilitating increased counselor competency working with transgender and gender expansive populations and is the current President of his university’s chapter of Counselors for Social Justice. In addition to being selected as the 2018-2019 ALGBTIC Emerging Leader, he has been selected as a 2018-2020 Southern Counseling Association for Counseling and Development Emerging Leader. His areas of interest include the infusion of social justice, multicultural competence, and advocacy in counselor education, counseling, and supervision.
