Dr. Robert L. Smith is a collaborative leader who has served as coordinator of special projects in the college of education and human development, department chair, doctoral program coordinator, and professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He has been instrumental in developing and directing masters and doctoral programs in Addictions Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, & Counselor Education and Supervision. Leadership positions include Past President of the ACA , IAMFC, NCDA, ACA Governing Council member, CACREP Board member, Executive Director of the IAMFC, IAMFC Board Member, and Research Director of the Sociedad Interamericana de Counseling in Venezuela. Chair and member of numerous departmental, school and university committees. Consultant of doctoral and master’s programs seeking accreditation. Private practice providing direct service and supervision in working with addictions, co-occurring disorders, and couple/family issues. Consultant and Supervisor with the U.S. Navy Substance abuse and rehabilitation programs. Numerous professional committee memberships including the ACA Task Force on Portability.
