Victoria E. Kress, Ph.D./LPCC-S (OH), NCC, CCMHC is the director of the clinical mental health and addictions counseling programs at Youngstown State University, and she is the Director of Advocacy for the National Board of Certified Counselors. She served as a governor appointed member of the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, and served as the chair of the Counselor Professional Standards Committee. She has been the recipient of over 30 counseling awards, most of which for her advocacy, leadership, scholarship, and mentorship initiatives. She is a past president of Chi Sigma Iota International and the Ohio Counseling Association, and she is a past ACA Midwest Region chair. Over the years she has been an advocate for issues such as counselor Medicare reimbursement, consistent counselor preparation and licensing standards, consumer’s access to substance abuse treatment, and children’s access to mental health services. She has published over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and has co-authored 5 books on counseling both adults and children.
