Susannah M. Wood is an associate professor at the University of Iowa where she teaches doctoral students and master’s students in the school counseling program. She collaborates with the Connie Belin and Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talented Development by providing professional development around the social and emotional needs of gifted students. Her research interests encompass preparing school counselors for their practice with a focus on serving the gifted population. She served as the secretary the secretary of the Association for Counselor Education & Supervision (ACES) and as president of the North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (NCACES). In 2015 she co-edited a special section in the Journal of Counseling & Development dedicated to counseling the gifted individual. She recently co-edited Serving Gifted Students in Rural Settings: A Framework for Bridging Gifted Education and Rural Classrooms. She co-edited Counseling Gifted Students in the Schools: A Guide for School Counselors (Springer: 2018).
