Long is a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Master Addictions Counselor, and has been an active advocate for the counseling profession and for emerging counselors throughout her professional life. In her role as director of state affairs, Jolie directs and oversees state legislative and regulatory issues. She monitors legislation, regulations and policies, and provides guidance and resources to state leaders. In addition, she assists state leaders with counseling public policy initiatives. She received her Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees in Counseling and Educational Development from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she was employed before beginning her work at NBCC. Throughout her career Jolie has been invested in working with and for the LGBTQ community. She has served on various boards and is currently on the board of directors for the Charlotte Gay and Lesbian Fund.
