Maternal Empowerment and Adjustment among Mothers Experiencing Birth Trauma, Winston Salem State University

Dr. Christan Horton is an assistant professor in the Rehabilitation Studies Program at Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. In addition to earning a doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Counselor Education, Dr. Horton is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (NC). Dr. Horton has experience as a case manager for persons with mental health issues and physical disabilities, and transitions coordinator for the state of North Carolina. Dr. Horton’s research interests includes (a) trauma and trauma informed care, (b) professional relationships between rehabilitation counselors and other allied health professionals, (c) and professional relationships between counselor educators and undergraduate rehabilitation professionals-in-training and the impact of positive mentorship.
