Shane Haberstroh EdD

Associate Professor, Northern Arizona University

Shane Haberstroh Ed.D. is an associate professor of counseling in the Department of Educational Psychology. Prior to his appointment at NAU, he served as an associate professor, assistant department chair, and doctoral program chair at the University of Texas at San Antonio. His research focuses on technology in counseling, creativity in counseling, and the losses and recovery processes related to addiction, crises, and traumatic events. He is finishing his second term on the American Counseling Association’s Governing Council and is chairing the national taskforce on licensure portability. He was recently the PI on a Victims of Crime Assistance Grant to establish counseling services for the communities affected by the Sutherland Springs shooting, and served as a Co PI on a HRSA grant integrating behavioral health into primary care settings.  Prior to working as a faculty member, he worked for six years at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Department of Neuropsychiatry.  As a counselor and the Associate Director of Substance Abuse Services, he led initiatives to integrate substance abuse and mental health counseling in outpatient and inpatient settings.
