Matt Englar-Carlson PhD

Professor of Counseling, California State University, Fullerton

As an experienced counselor educator I have worked with a wide range of male clients across all settings (community, school, private practice) and modalities (individual, couple, group, family counseling). I recently co-edited a special issue of the Journal of Counseling & Development on counseling men and have co-edited three books on counseling men and boys. Most of my scholarly work has specifically addressed men, masculinity, multicultural counseling, and mental health. This work includes empirical studies, literature reviews, case studies, professionally produced videos, and book chapters. I regularly give national and international continuing education workshops and trainings on counseling men. In addition to my clinical and scholarly work, I co-direct a non-profit organization that focuses on community-based efforts to promote the healthy behavior of boys and men.
