Melanie C. Harper PhD

Associate Professor and Program Director for the Counseling Programs, St. Mary's University, San Antonio, TX

Dr. Harper holds the Ph.D. degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the M.A. degree in Professional Counseling from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University at San Marcos. She has taught counseling for 13 years and currently serves as the Program Director for the Counselor Education and Supervision and Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. She has made over 35 presentations at professional counseling conferences and has published four chapters in counseling books and four articles in counseling journals. She has taught and presented on a variety of topics including ethics, accreditation, university teaching, counseling older adults, integration of spirituality and religion in counseling, wellness, counseling and supervising sexual minorities, and the use of creativity in counseling, counselor education, and supervision.
