Dr. King served as a DSM-5 Revision Task Force committee member for the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA) and has given over 190 national and international trainings on the DSM-5 since its publication in May 2013.Dr. King is listed on page 914 of the DSM-5 as a Collaborative Investigator. He composed a journal article on the DSM-5 published in NBCC's The Professional Counselor. Dr. King is the DSM-5 content editor for the new textbooks DSM-5® and Family Systems and Diagnosing Children and Adolescents: Guide for Mental Health Practitioners. He received the 2012 AMHCA Mental Health Counselor of the Year Award. Dr. King served as a Behavioral Health Clinical Panel Member for Stanford University's Health Policy Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research in which he assisted in the investigation of community-level quality indicators related to suicidal ideation, serious mental illness, substance use, depression, anxiety, adjustment, and psychotic disorders; and intimate partner violence and abuse. Dr. King is the Student Development Coordinator for the School of Counseling at Walden University.
